Financial Controller

2009 (15 years!!!!)

3. Can you share your career journey at FCR and how you progressed to your current role?

My career at FCR has been a rewarding evolution. My journey began as a receptionist shortly after graduating from college with an interest in accounting. In the initial stages of my career, I had my hand in different administrative roles. This multifaceted experience allowed me to transition into bookkeeping. Engaging in both bookkeeping and administrative tasks gave a unique perspective on the business functionality and financial operations of FCR. This experience, along with the trust, support, and mentorship I have received from the partners is what laid the groundwork for my transition into the role of Financial Controller.

4. Can you share an example of how FCR supports employee well-being?

FCR prioritizes employee well-being by promoting a healthy work-life balance, providing flexible work arrangements, and offering resources for professional development and personal growth. They understand the importance of supporting their employees both inside and outside the workplace. Since starting in 2009, I have gotten married and became a mother to two wonderful children, FCR has been incredibly accommodating. This support has allowed me to thrive both personally and professionally, knowing that FCR values my well-being and supports my journey as a working parent. Professionally, they have set me up for success at every level of my career.

5. What advice would you give to someone considering a career at FCR?

I would advise someone considering a career at FCR to recognize the unique opportunities for growth and development, and to proactively seek out new challenges. FCR values each employee’s talents and interests creating a dynamic environment where individuals can excel. FCR recognizes dedication, innovation, and teamwork. Those who are willing to challenge themselves and pursue their goals are often rewarded with fulfilling and meaningful experiences.

6. How has FCR supported your professional development and career growth?

FCR has been instrumental in supporting my professional development and career growth through mentorship, training, and opportunities to take on new challenges and responsibilities. A significant part of my professional career growth is owed to the teachings of the people, specifically the partners, at FCR. By sharing their knowledge and experience, they have helped me expand my skill set and grow as a professional.

7. How has FCR contributed to your work-life balance? Why is this important to you?

FCR has been incredibly supportive of my work-life balance by offering flexible work arrangements, understanding, and accommodating personal commitments and promoting a culture of work-life balance. This support allows me to effectively manage my responsibilities at work while also prioritizing my personal family commitments. With two kids involved in competitive hockey, the appreciation I have for the flexibility has been invaluable.
