I joined Freelandt Caldwell Reilly LLP in May 2022 as a Staff Accountant and have now been with the firm for just over three years. My journey here has been marked by continuous growth, learning, and meaningful connections. From the beginning, I was welcomed into a supportive environment where mentorship played a key role in my development. I’ve had the privilege of learning from a diverse group of professionals from staff accountants, managers, senior managers, principals, and partners. Each offering unique insights and guidance that helped shape my path.
The variety of departments and engagements at FCR has exposed me to a wide range of experiences, allowing me to expand my skill set far beyond what I initially imagined. This exposure has not only deepened my technical knowledge but also helped me discover areas of personal and professional passion.
FCR has consistently supported my curiosity and drive to explore different types of engagements. The collaborative culture means there’s always someone willing to offer help or share their expertise, which has been invaluable to my growth. As a member of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, it’s always been important to me to serve my Nation and others across Turtle Island. FCR has empowered me to pursue this passion by providing opportunities to work with Indigenous clients in meaningful ways. This alignment between my personal values and professional work has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.
For anyone considering a career at FCR, I can confidently say it’s a place where you can grow both personally and professionally. The environment is inclusive, supportive, and encourages you to bring your unique perspective to the table. What sets FCR apart is its commitment to helping individuals align their personal values with their professional goals. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next step in your career, FCR offers the tools, mentorship, and opportunities to help you succeed.
A guiding principle that influences both my work and life is the Seven Grandfather Teachings. These teaching are foundational to how I approach each day. While maintaining this balance isn’t always easy, these values have been instrumental in shaping me as a professional and as a person.
Reflecting on my time at FCR, I’m proud of the journey I’ve taken. The unexpected opportunities I’ve received have made my career both dynamic and rewarding. Each day brings something new, which keeps me engaged and motivated. The firm’s inclusive and collaborative culture stands out, and I’m grateful to work alongside such a skilled, solution-focused team. At FCR, we focus on understanding and delivering on the unique needs of each client. I’m proud to contribute to this meaningful work.
